The Song That Made My Day

Today wasn't exactly the best day ever...
But this song really did make my day!!
Thank you YY for sharing it with me!! Now I shall share with the world!! Or at least people who read my blog... Haha...

Hope you guys enjoy it!!

Jon Schmidt is a great composer for arranging these 2 songs together!! And definitely a loving dad who dedicated such beautiful song to his 7 year old daughter. Love this song!!

Never Heal

Fighting the fatigue to cycle
The clock was ticking
The hands almost reach seven
I was in a hurry
And then I saw you
The world slowed down
Someone pressed the remote control
And life was in slow motion

I went upstairs, thinking of you
When I came back down
You were still there, smiling
Was I dreaming of you so much?
But dreams were shattered
Hopes were taken away
You were smiling at her
I guess no matter how long it was
Some wounds never really heal

No one knew how I felt
This is still a sensitive issue
No matter how long ago
Things never really change
Deep in my heart
Feelings never really go away
I made a promise
I will never shed another tear for you
But some wounds never really heal

Standing in the front yard
Thinking what a fool I am
Hoping for an impossible dream
There won't be a shooting star
For I will forever be the moon
Overshadowed by the sun
No matter how much I deny it
Some wounds never really heal

~I am listening to Beyonce's Irreplaceable and If I Were A Boy. Suddenly got the inspiration to write a poem, or rather some random babbling that comes to my mind.

I dedicate this poem to you, someone who no longer read my blog.
This is a piece of me that you never care to know...~

Life is UNFAIR

Life is unfair... Since when is it fair?
Why life is unfair? Take a read~~

1. Michael Jackson died. He DIED. At the age of 50... Of heart attack. It is undeniable that he was one eccentric weird soul but he was also one creative and unique artist that inspired so many style, moves and was truly a King of Pop. Of all useless people on Earth who are quite qualified to contest in the Darwin's Award and wasting energy and resources on Earth, someone as talented and as special as Michael Jackson has to die. Life is unfair, non?

2. Our very knowledgeable and wise Health Minister has decided to name Swine Flu H1N1 "SELESEMA BABI", literal translation : "Pig Flu". Why so dull and uncreative in naming things? Bird flu originated from bird and is called Bird Flu. Swine flu NOT from pigs also called Pig Flu. Doesn't science proved that Swine Flu DO NOT originate from pigs? Can't the entire department be a little more creative and name the disease in a slightly more creative Malay term?

3. The unofficial theory of the week: "Smart girls do not get boyfriends". This originated from conversations among a few friends of mine. It seems that MOST guys (I emphasis MOST, not ALL) are highly intimidated by girls who are smarter, better and more efficient than themselves. Girls with strong personality and great potential freak guys out. Yea, even smart guys get freaked out by girls like that. Therefore, guys tend to date girls who are less capable than themselves. I seriously have a question. Does it make you guys feel better when your girlfriend/fiancee/wife is dumb? Again, life is unfair. Smart girls should get the good guys, not prepare themselves towards spinsterhood.

4. Another unofficial theory of the week: "Open-minded girls are sluts". This also originated from conversations among friends. Apparently "open-minded" is defined as promisciusity, someone who hang out and socialise well with the opposite sex, someone who is completely comfortable with being herself with the opposite sex, etc. You get the idea. Seriously, I don't get the gender segregation, even among chinese communities who are deemed more "open-minded" than our Malay counterparts. Does a girl's best friend has to be another girl? Does being friendly among guys for her tomboy-ness makes a girl a slut? Does being open-minded makes one a slut? C'mon man, Oxford Dictionary defines "Open-minded" as "willing to listen to, think about or accept different ideas" NOT being a slut.

5. Fat is ugly. This is an idea that constantly bug the current society but lately, this comment is always heard. Thus, I've made it a point to blog it here. Fat is NOT ugly. For those of you who thinks that fat is ugly,

WAKE UP GUYS!!
UGLY IS THE NEW BEAUTY!!!

As much as we hate to admit it, life is unfair.

Therefore, suck it up and live through it.

Busy... Hiatus...

Another one week hiatus... Well, I am really busy...
So here's a little updates and really interesting incidents that happened last week...
~~Someone who once said my blog is getting more impersonal, this is a true change of style... ~~

Last Saturday, I went to Malim Nawar with Julian, Black and Qian. Ms Hee brought us there to survey first. We saw some really interesting places at night and got a rough idea of Malim Nawar. On Sunday, we went to Malim Nawar again and started interviewing people. It is truly a great experience!! Too bad we don't have Journalism students on the team, or not we really can learn a lot. The team is fun!! Since I am the only girl in the team, intially I worried that I might be alienated by the guys... But I was sooo wrong... Now I feel like I have 3 big brothers looking after me, but of course, kena bully a lot la... Especially Black who needs to remind me that my Mandarin sucks... (I am trying to improve la... Give chance la...) I also learnt the proper way to eat Ho Po dish, which consists of mostly legumes, radish and vegetables... I didn't know the right way to eat it cause I only watch my mum eats it that way... So I kena laughed at again T_T But it was really nice to get all these new experiences.

Monday to Wednesday, cafeteria was in a sort of organised chaos... Why? SRC mar... My housemate and close friend, YY is running for the post of FSET Faculty Rep. As a friend, I felt obliged to help and support her, that is to mess up their booth and help them get a few votes... It was really nice meeting Kyan, Wilson Lo, and the rest of the team. I hope they don't think that I am too kepoh or what... And sorry guys, if I really mess up your booth or something...

Monday and Tuesday night, I cooked dinner... And Vee said it was nice!! Can you believe it? Vee actually said MY cooking is NICE!!! Hear that mum, your daughter is not that bad a cook la!! Hahaha... Too bad, no pictures... And on Wednesday morning, the most shocking incident happened. I was in dreamland and I heard my alarm ringing. I snoozed it (as usual) and I heard my roommate got up. Then I heard something...

"Miao"

I opened my eyes...

I saw a CAT next to my bed, staring into my eyes!!!

AHHH!!!! A cat in my room!!! Must have got in from the window... We kinda made it go out of the room and the next minute, it was licking our cups and plates in the common area... And YY screamed at the top of her lungs when she opened her room door... Gosh, three humans afraid of a feline? When we tried to use the broom to halau it, it actually thought we were playing with it!! Urgh~~ Luckily, the ground floor housemate carried it out of the house. But for the whole of Wednesday, I had rash all over my body and my nose is practically clogged. Fur allergy~~ Of all things, I have to be allergic to fur!!

On Wednesday night, we went to the studio in Kampar to take photos. Well, one of our close friend is leaving us soon to study somewhere. And we really wanted something to remember our great times together. The photo session was so fun!! And seriously, Black is such a camwhore king. Goldon, handsome as usual, but very stiff in photos... The girls, well, we do what we do best... Haha... Then we went to Kim Keong for dinner, or rather supper. I was starved to half dead and ate CHEESE BAKED SPAGHETTI... And I played chess with Zac... and lost... as expected...

On Thursday, I started to feel sick... Maybe it is because of the weather, or I am getting heaty, or I am not eating healthy, or maybe some other factors... The summary was... Thursday was sooooo shitty.... But the fun part was in the evening, where the 3 guys came to do the Malim Nawar project report. We kinda joked and played with each other. And gosh, the three guys... unleashed their evil side... Those things that they usually will not do or say in front of girls, were all said and done last night. I am kinda glad because they took me as a friend and are not acting all gentleman in front of me...

Today, still feeling sick but better... Thank you ZAC for taking the trouble to take me to classes and fetch me home, twice. Tonight I shall cook dinner, and pamper myself a bit, since this week is such a busy and hectic week...

Long post, no pictures (Those holding pictures... Give me la...)
Fruitful week? Yea... Very...
Learnt a few lessons, made a few important decisions, got new experiences, built new friendship, and lived a fruitful week. Even I am not feeling well, I am trying to embrace life, even the thorny and bitchy part...

Thank you Xin Yi, who is there forever. Sorry for the long phone calls. I am sooo lucky to have you around.
Thank you Wee Leng for being a considerate and tolerant roommate.
Thank you YY who dragged me into the Malim Nawar project and giving me the opportunity to experience SRC campaigning while not running for it.
Thank you Julian, Black and Qian for giving me such a good time while doing the project.

Thank you GOD for giving me such a contented life.

Writer's Block

I am soooo suffering from verbal constipation...
Gone were the days of my daily blog updates... Mostly because I am busy with studies and projects. But sometimes, I just sit in front of the laptop and stare. Hell, I don't even go to YouTube that often anymore.

Earlier, I was involved with one major event, that is the Welcoming Concert. Now, I am in another project, New Village. This is practically a writing project where I am assigned to research about food and product in Malim Nawar with 3 other teammates, the resourceful Julian who is our guide, the outgoing Black who makes our trips enjoyable and also the good-natured Yan Qian who gives cool insights.

Besides events and projects, I am super busy with reports, assignments, tutorials, and of course lecture preparations. Degree is not easy. We are no longer spoon-fed every single step, though they still do it some times. But we are mostly on our own to study and get ready before the lecture. However, I still do not like the current concept that they are doing it for FINALS. I mean, yes, we are doing things ourselves now. But most of my coursemates do it with the aim of "scoring in Finals" or "for the sake of lab test" or "cover what I need to cover for exams". Doesn't it totally defeats the purpose of education? What do one learn or remember after the quiz or exams? And don't one make notes because he/she want to learn the right thing instead of "for the sake of lab test"?

Though I have tonnes of work to do, many assignments due soon, but I am trying to have fun learning and doing things. I rather be holistic than a mechanical robot that swallows and regurgitates things. I do it for the sake of knowledge and experience, not for the sake of exams or A's or CGPA or, hell, to impress other people. I don't understand why some people have the idea that I am a sick psychopath that aims for CGPA 4.0 or that I am taking up post because I want to be popular. I am just someone demanding perfection because I want to learn or do it right, not because I want to impress people or show off to others. I yearn for knowledge, not A's.

However, though life is busy, but I enjoy it very much.

Kicking and screaming... That's LIFE

Welcoming Concert June 2009

FINALLY IT IS OVER!!!

After one week hiatus from dear Ryanne... You guys must be wondering what happen to my daily updates... Sincere apologies to my readers, I was very very very busy for the past week over Welcoming Concert. Rehearsals and briefings and meetings and all... I didn't get to sleep properly over the last few days also...

I was extremely busy over briefings on Monday and Wednesday and also rehearsals on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Friday night, I broke my personal record by staying in the Heritage Hall until 3am, doing the backdrop. That is an astounding 19 hours in campus!! I slept for about 2 hours then went back to campus at 8.30am on Saturday, for the concert...

Well, sorry to say that I cannot provide a visual feast on the concert... Most of the pictures I have are pre-production (rehearsal time) and also post-production (after the concert). I have yet to compile a full album of photos from everyone. Even those photos were not really of quality, because mostly it was taken in a hurry or taken by shaky hands (ahem... you know who you are...) So, anyone with footage of the event, please share with me!!

These are the point of view from the Programme Manager~~

Chai Yi Bin and his Canon Rock... I have to say his fingers are FAST!!

Christian Fellowship Band performing That's What You Get, Only Hope and also Our Lives.
They were our closing act. Kyle belting out the numbers while Andrea plays kickass electric guitar!!

Ash and Absolute Zero!! I have to say this band is the BEST!!
Andy and Kelvin both rock out!! Bassist Kenny is soooo COOL!! And leng chai also!!

Technical crew, lead by Julian, standing by.

This is the reason why I left campus at 3am the night before concert.
RADIANCE really took a hell lot of effort to put up!!

Alan and his crew ROCK!!! They put in soooo much effort and time in this. And despite many tries and failure, they never gave up.
Finally, it is on the stage, radiating!!

Final setting up before we leave...

Ever wonder how we support the whole backdrop structure?

This is how it is, right before the show starts!!

Audience filling in the hall. I love Alan's design of the hall...
Not too bright to spoil the concert mood but dark enough for the light "radiating" into the hall.

One of those very very impressive decoration at the side of the hall.

Eugene the chairman taking pictures while resting.

Me and Patrick, the vice chairman

Me and the kickass Chinese Drummer.
She was our opening act. Her drum skill ROCK TO THE MAX!!

Me and Ken Ee, the very very geng and leng chai bassist who played for both Absolute Zero and Char Siew Pau

After a hard day's work, the helpers are resting on VIP chairs...

My able helper, Kenny.
Without you, I wouldn't have done it!!

The backdrop genius, Alan(middle) and stage manager, Siu Siu (right)

The programme team, me (left), stage manager Siu Siu (center), technical manager Julian (right)
You guys rocks!!
Thanks for cooperating with me soooo much!!

I guess these are the pictures so far... Will put it up when I get all the pictures...
I really enjoy doing this event. I learned sooo much from the people in the committee as well as from the helpers.
Nelson, you taught me so much about managing events and doing things the diplomatic way.
Siu Siu, you taught me to be organised and be in control.
Julian, you taught me how to laugh when I am stress.
Qian, you taught me how to remain calm when there are sooo much to do.
Alan, you taught me how to solve problems when everything else seemed to fail.
Black, you taught me not to worry too much and do my best.
Melvin, you taught me how to coordinate and just do what I can.

Special thanks to YY, Black and Julian.
Sorry I took you guys as my punching bag. I was very very stress but you guys helped me go through it nicely.

Special thanks to GOR GOR.
Thanks for the great advice and also the food. You calling every now and then checking up on me really touched me!!
Thanks for caring and loving your dear mui mui soooo much!!

All in all, I couldn't say enough thank you!!

WELCOMING CONCERT ROCKS!!!
